Is the copper safe for the birds?
Yes. Pure copper has been used safely around birdbaths and fountains for decades. The disc releases trace copper ions that prevent algae without harming birds that drink from or bathe in the water.
How long does one disc last?
One disc typically lasts several months of continuous outdoor use. It may develop a natural blue-green patina over time, which is normal and does not affect performance.
Will it work in my birdbath?
The disc is 4 x 4 inches and works in most standard pedestal birdbaths, bowls, fountains, and small water features. For very large baths, two discs work better than one.
Do I need to clean my birdbath first?
Yes. Empty, rinse, and refill the bath with fresh water before dropping in the disc. After that, you only need to top up the water as it evaporates.
How to use
- Step 1: Empty and rinse your birdbath, then refill with fresh water.
- Step 2: Drop the copper disc into the water — it floats on the surface.
- Step 3: Top up the water as it evaporates. Replace the disc after several months of use.
